About Home Inspections

We at The Inspection Consultant use ITI infrared thermal imaging on all our home inspections. Infrared Thermal Imaging, or ITI, provides important information relating to otherwise inaccessible areas of the residential building. Infrared IR detects extremely small but crucial differences in temperature from one area of a house to another. These temperature differences show up on the camera as cold and hot spots when revealing hidden problems that often cannot be detected in the course of a traditional home inspection.
In the above pictures the IR photo shows an area of moisture intrusion in the wall cavity from a roof leak. Can you see any signs of moisture in the corresponding digital photo? I wonder if your home inspector can without the use of IR?
The above photos show an exterior window area of a stucco home. This window area has had stucco repairs in the past. Night time IR images unfortunately reveal that the repairs were unsuccessful from preventing moisture entering the stucco system.
The ITI camera can be a valuable tool in an inspector’s bag. However, with all tools there needs to be training. An inspector can spend thousands and buy an IR camera. But without proper training, the camera can provide false information. Your inspector should have, at minimum, ASNT Level 1 Thermography Certification. All our inspectors use FLIR cameras and are Level 1 certified and trained from FLIR's leading training facility ITC located in Toronto.
All our home inspections meet or exceed CAHPI Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors standards. We will provide you with valuable knowledge to the major components and systems including:

About Commercial Inspections
The Inspection Consultant provides PCA's Property Condition Assessments for buyers, owners, and leasers in the Toronto and Southwestern Ontario. The Inspection Consultant's Due Diligence reports provide commercial clients the information they need to make appropriate and informed decisions.
Due Diligence Reports typically include roofing, building exteriors, structure, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC Systems, interiors, restrooms and, parking and walking surfaces, with recommendations for maintenance, repair, and component replacement as needed.
